The dynamic threat posed by small uncrewed aerial vehicles presents modern armed forces with complex tactical challenges. In volatile combat situations and during troop movements, static surveillance systems can reach their limits. ARX Robotics has successfully demonstrated, in collaboration with L3Harris, how the convergence of UGV technology and specialized sensors creates additional counter-UAS opportunities — and much more.

Convergence-Capstone 6 was the largest multinational exercise by the U.S. Army to date, in which novel battlefield technologies were tested in practice. Among the British formations that faced the various maneuver components under the challenging conditions of the California desert near Fort Irwin, there were eight unmanned ground systems of the Gereon type from ARX Robotics. The UGVs were deployed as unmanned „workhorses“ and covered a wide range of tasks during the exercises, from reconnaissance and logistics to the evacuation of the wounded and active electronic warfare measures. In collaboration with L3Harris, it was also demonstrated how combining unmanned mobility with stationary sensor technology can establish a quickly deployable, flexibly usable system for detecting enemy drones. For this, a Corvus-Raven reconnaissance and defense system from L3Harris was mounted directly on an UGV from ARX Robotics. The Corvus-Raven captures the electromagnetic signatures of active drones, provides target data for location determination, and can also be used for electronic defense measures if needed. During Convergence-Capstone 6, all sensor and telemetry data from the Gereon were fed in real time into the command-and-control networks at the brigade, division, and corps levels. This successfully tested complete interoperability within the allied coalition, allowing allied nations to merge all available data into a common operational picture in the event of deployment.
