Acquisitions and „Drone-as-a-Service“ as growth drivers

Companies in the global UxS industry currently stand at an essential crossroads: either quickly seize market share or gradually fade away. A proven method to rapidly gain size can be mergers and acquisitions. Another growth driver is „Drone-as-a-Service“ (DaaS) offerings. With its drone division, ZenaTech from Canada has recently focused on acquisitions and DaaS, yielding strong business figures at the beginning of the year.
As a broadly positioned provider of technological solutions based in Toronto, Canada, ZenaTech has leveraged its financial capabilities to establish itself in the UAS-based services market through targeted acquisitions. The focus has been primarily on acquiring firms whose established operations allow for the integration of modern UAS solutions aimed at increasing efficiency and quality, such as land surveying service providers.
26 locations across three continents
Currently, the company cites 23 acquisitions in ten U.S. states, as well as in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Together with its own branches in Orlando, Dublin, and Dubai, ZenaTech has a total of 26 locations worldwide where DaaS services are provided or UAS-based processes have been integrated into traditional operations.

This approach essentially follows a dual strategy. On one hand, it strengthens revenue and cash flow; on the other, it binds potential customers to itself. In this way, the uncrewed systems manufactured by ZenaDrone can prove their value, and the operational experience feeds back into the development and improvement of the drones.
A self-accelerating system
And this strategy seems to be bearing fruit. According to its own statements, the publicly listed company achieved revenue of 8.4 million Canadian dollars in the first quarter of 2026. Compared to the same period last year (1.13 million Canadian dollars), this represents an increase of 640 percent. Notably, the „Drone-as-a-Service“ segment contributed about 93 percent to the strong results in Q1/2026.
At the same time, the defense sector is increasingly gaining focus at ZenaTech. Recently, the company began developing prototypes for a Counter-UAS system and has filed a preliminary patent. The planned range includes the maritime interceptor drone ZD2000 Maritime Interceptor, the one-way interceptor drone Interceptor P-1, and the sea-based launch and refueling station IQ Glider. Additional projects include the underwater drone prototype IQ Aqua for mine detection and a quantum navigation system for UxS operations in areas without an active GPS connection. ZenaTech has also applied for Green/Blue-UAS-Pathway certification for the ZenaDrone 1000.
