Scaling solutions

After the United States gradually reduced its aid to Ukraine at the behest of the Trump administration, Germany has now become the largest supporter of the country under attack from Russia. Therefore, the intention is to come even closer together, including in the area of unmanned systems. On the sidelines of the German-Ukrainian government consultations today, Quantum Systems announced two more joint ventures with Ukrainian partners.

Just two weeks ago, the delivery of a batch of Linza drones to the Ukrainian armed forces was announced. Specifically, this involved the first UAS produced in Germany by Quantum Frontline Industries. This is a joint venture between the Bavarian company Quantum Systems and Frontline Industries. The Linza systems, developed and tested in operation by the Ukrainian company, are manufactured under the „Build with Ukraine“ initiative. This initiative, presented by President Volodymyr Zelensky last year, aims to leverage European manufacturing capacity to ensure consistent, scalable production of unmanned systems for the Ukrainian armed forces.

    Combat-proven systems

Following the introduction of the unmanned ground vehicle Mandrill and the partnership linking the MOSAIC Ground Autonomy Kit to Daimler Trucks’ vehicle platforms, Quantum Systems is now intensifying efforts with Tencore to build a cross-domain portfolio. The companies announced this during the German-Ukrainian government consultations in Berlin today. Under the umbrella of the joint venture Quantum Tencore Industries (QTI), they aim to advance the scaling of the production of combat-proven unmanned ground systems. „This partnership goes beyond technology – it’s about combining strengths“, emphasizes Roman Tkachenko, co-founder and CBDO of Tencore. „No company and no country can shape the future of unmanned systems alone. Only through genuine partnership do we have a real chance of success. Together we develop solutions that strengthen our countries and, above all, protect and support the Ukrainian armed forces on the ground.”

At the end of March, Quantum Systems invested in the Ukrainian company WIY Drones and subsequently received an order to deliver 15,000 interceptor drones of the Strila model, developed by WIY, to the National Guard of Ukraine. „Ukrainian engineers have developed some of the world’s most effective drone defense technologies. Quantum Systems is scaling these solutions industrially and helping to secure Ukrainian airspace“, stated Sven Kruck, co-CEO of Quantum Systems, after the announcement of the investment in WIY Drones.

With the now-announced joint venture Quantum WIY Industries (QWI), the partners are intensifying their collaboration and aim to expand production of the Strila interceptor drone (Ukrainian for „Arrow“), which was specifically developed to combat fast-moving aerial targets. Initially, production will be ramped up in Ukraine to meet the acute demand. Future exports of production surpluses are possible, according to Quantum Systems. „The defense of Ukraine shows how crucial unmanned systems have become for modern armed forces. Through our joint ventures and close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, we bring this field-tested expertise into German and European industrial structures, thus making a concrete contribution to strengthening defense capabilities in Ukraine and throughout Europe“, summarizes Matthias Lehna, Vice President at Quantum Systems.
