Drone photography in the extreme landscapes of Andalusia

As a nature photographer, I am constantly on the lookout for landscapes that offer something new and unique. Therefore, I regularly travel to Spain, both the mainland and the islands. On my recent trip to Andalusia, I was not interested in coastal cities or the famous white villages. Instead, I was drawn to the rugged, almost surreal landscapes of two Spanish semi-deserts and jagged karst areas, which are particularly stunning from a drone's perspective.

What fascinates me repeatedly in my work is the role of drone photography and how it can complement traditional ground-based images. With the camera in my hand, I immerse myself in smaller sections of the landscape and details: the structure of a landscape, intricate details, the sparkle of the sea in backlight, and the mood of a special moment. The drone, on the other hand, lifts the view and opens up a broad, expansive perspective. Suddenly, lines, patterns, and forms become visible that remain hidden from the ground. This nature reserve, located at about 1,200 meters above sea level, mesmerizes visitors with its almost supernatural rock formations. A karst area is characterized by rugged terrain in which limestone, gypsum, salts, or other soluble materials gradually erode over long periods, leaving bizarre rock formations. In El Torcal de Antequera, wind and water have sculpted the limestone massif over millions of years, creating stacked stone slabs, column-like structures, and rock towers that resemble petrified b…
