Quantum Systems: $1.2 Billion Funding Round

Technological maturity and innovative ideas are one thing. Having the necessary capacities for large-scale serial production is something entirely different. Balancing both is one of the goals of Quantum Systems, and the outlook appears promising. Thanks to a Series D funding round led by Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus, and Advent, amounting to 1.2 billion US dollars, the company based in Gilching, Bavaria, now has additional growth opportunities.
In the international competition for uncrewed systems, it’s no longer just the product that counts, but rather the ability to deliver it reliably and in adequate quantities. It’s no surprise that Quantum Systems is currently making several efforts to build the required manufacturing capacities. „This financing allows us to further expand our production, grow internationally, and provide the next generation of AI-supported autonomous systems in the air, on land, at sea, and in related operational areas“, emphasizes Sven Kruck, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems, highlighting the significance of the recently announced Series D round of 1.2 billion US dollars. This raises Quantum Systems’ post-money valuation to approximately 8 billion US dollars, according to their own reports.
Strategic cooperation with Airbus Defence and Space
In addition to new financial leeway for technological developments and strategic acquisitions, the expanded strategic cooperation with Airbus Defence and Space, established during the financing round, is expected to provide even more growth options for both sides. „Modern warfare is won through decision speed, that is, the ability to capture, process, and integrate large amounts of data from the air, ground, and space faster than the opponent. Autonomous systems are crucial force multipliers that are rapidly evolving“, says Michael Schöllhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space. „Therefore, we are pleased to deepen our collaboration with Quantum Systems. We are combining core competencies in architecture, software, and AI, thus accelerating reconnaissance and effects integration across our mutual portfolios. For Airbus, this means going beyond the role of a classic defense prime contractor and actively shaping the architecture of interconnected defense ecosystems.”

Beyond the expansion of manufacturing capacities and the development of resilient supply chains, the acquired funds will also serve to transition from uncrewed single platforms to an interoperable family of systems, with the mission platform MOSAIC UXS at its core. Thanks to its open architecture, there are also opportunities to position itself at the center of a modern European defense industry that provides both manned and unmanned technologies for land, sea, and air. „With Quantum Systems, we are building a next-generation Neo-Prime that has the potential to fundamentally change defense as we know it today“, notes Florian Seibel, Co-CEO and co-founder of Quantum Systems. „We are profitable, operational worldwide, and with the recent financing round, we now have more than 1.2 billion US dollars in additional leverage to systematically implement our strategy.”
