Medium-range attack drones

At the Munich Security Conference in February, Auterion and Airlogix presented their plans to establish a joint venture to produce AI-controlled drones for the Ukrainian military and NATO forces. In the recent German-Ukrainian government consultations in Berlin, the two partners announced that they have received a preliminary concrete order from the federal government to manufacture a four-digit number of attack drones for Ukraine.
This marks the largest German order for combat drones to date. Manufactured in Germany and produced according to local standards for the procurement of munitions, the unmanned systems are set to initially support the Ukrainian Armed Forces in their fight against Russian aggressors. In addition, the UAS will be built to standard military criteria, enabling direct integration into NATO command structures if production can scale beyond the specific needs of Ukraine and the German Armed Forces.
Swarm coordination
The drones, reminiscent of Iranian Shaheed drones and with a range of over 1,000 kilometers, were developed by the Ukrainian defense contractor Airlogix. The software company Auterion, founded in Switzerland and now based in the USA and Europe, contributes its software solutions for operation, navigation, and swarm coordination to the joint project. According to Auterion, a dedicated production line is being established in Germany, with the first combat drones from the Auterion Airlogix joint venture expected to be assembled later this year.
