Credit where credit is due

Drones are not science fiction; they are a flying, driving, and swimming reality. Nevertheless, they remain largely invisible in everyday life for many people. With the „Global Drone Operations Awards 2026“, SPH Engineering aims to bring demanding drone operations into sharper focus for the professional community. The competition is aimed at projects that utilize uncrewed systems to solve complex tasks beyond classic imaging or mapping applications in industry, science, and engineering.
Whether in mining, inspection missions, construction, or scientific research, uncrewed systems are increasingly deployed where conventional methods are time-consuming, costly, dangerous, or organizationally demanding. However, many equally meaningful and technically challenging applications remain largely hidden from the public. With the Global Drone Operations Awards, SPH Engineering, a UxS service provider, seeks to change that and promote the discourse around professional drone applications.
„Drones are no longer just cameras in the sky“, says Alexey Dobrovolskiy, CEO of SPH Engineering. „In demanding industrial environments, they are becoming professional tools for collecting data that directly supports business and operational decisions. With these Awards, we want to recognize the teams proving what advanced drone workflows can achieve, and help more industries understand the value of these methods.”
Projects will be awarded in which drones not only provide visual documentation but also create measurable added value through specialized sensors, integrated systems, complex operational workflows, and verifiable results. Alternatively, they should contribute to reducing risks for personnel, improving data quality, or shortening the time to decision-making through optimized workflows.
Interested companies and service providers can submit their applications until July 31, 2026. Evaluation will be conducted by an expert jury based on technical complexity, data quality, degree of innovation, operational implementation, and the positive economic effects achieved. The winners will be honored in October 2026 in Budapest.
