Mercedes-Benz and TYTAN Technologies sign MoU

  • Deutsch
  • Mercedes-Benz and the Munich-based technology company TYTAN Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on future cooperation at ILA 2026 (the International Aerospace Exhibition).

Michael Schiebe, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG responsible for Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management, and Balázs Nagy, CEO and Co-Founder of TYTAN Technologies, concluded the agreement during ILA 2026. The signing was attended by Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

At ILA 2026, Mercedes-Benz and TYTAN are also offering a first look at a joint vehicle-based system network with a prototype. It illustrates possible approaches to integrating technology-supported applications into mobile platforms and exemplifies the shared development directions of the cooperation. Among other things, the Memorandum covers the exploration of possible further development as well as industrial scaling, taking into account the relevant regulatory framework – in particular export-control, defence and security-law requirements.

“The current geopolitical challenges make it clear that we must rethink resilience and security. This makes it all the more important to deliberately pool the strengths of our industry. The planned cooperation between TYTAN Technologies and Mercedes-Benz excites me in particular: here, the innovative power of a visionary start-up meets the decades of experience and excellence of a company steeped in industrial tradition. This combination impressively demonstrates the potential that emerges when bold technological ideas and industrial strength come together. Together, both companies make an important contribution to protecting our critical infrastructure even better and to sustainably strengthening Germany’s technological sovereignty.”
Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy

“With the Memorandum of Understanding with TYTAN Technologies, we are pooling our respective strengths: Mercedes-Benz stands, today and in the future, for robust and reliable base vehicles, while TYTAN brings highly specialised expertise in drone, sensor and mission technology. Together, we want to work on innovative solutions for security and protection tasks. For Mercedes-Benz, expanding our long-standing expertise in the defence sector is a strategic growth field.”
Michael Schiebe, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Production, Quality and Supply Chain Management

“The threat is real – every day we witness overflights above German and European critical infrastructure. Agility and interoperability are no longer wishes; they are necessities. In Mercedes-Benz, we have found a partner that brings world-class industrial excellence and institutional knowledge. TYTAN Technologies contributes the operational expertise and technical competence in autonomous air defence and counter-UAS systems. Together, we are creating a platform architecture that effectively protects against unmanned threats – not in 2029, but today.”
Balázs Nagy, CEO and Co-Founder of TYTAN Technologies

TYTAN brings its expertise in developing drone-, sensor- and mission-related system solutions to the cooperation, taking responsibility for this area within the partnership. Mercedes-Benz has many years of experience in developing, producing and scaling robust and adaptable vehicle platforms. The aim is to bring both sets of capabilities together in selected projects and to evaluate possible applications for modular, vehicle-mounted solutions in a structured manner.

The agreement forms the framework for further cooperation and shows how capacities and
capabilities can be combined to contribute to expanding Europe’s sovereignty and security over the long term.
