Embention strengthens its POA approval

Embention has received approval from the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) to incorporate the requirements established under the European Part-IS (Information Security) regulation into its Production Organisation Approval (POA).
This milestone marks a significant step forward in the evolution of the company’s Information Security Management System (ISMS), expanding its scope beyond ISO/IEC 27001 compliance to meet a regulatory framework specifically designed to protect civil aviation against information security threats that could affect flight safety.
While ISO/IEC 27001 provides an internationally recognized framework for managing the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, Part-IS introduces aviation-specific requirements that place aviation safety at the center of information security. This approach focuses not only on protecting information itself but also on mitigating the potential impact that compromised information could have on safe aircraft operations.
Compliance with Part-IS also entails more stringent requirements in key areas such as nonconformity management, information security risk oversight, and the monitoring of organizations throughout the supply chain.
Unlike ISO/IEC 27001, which is a voluntary international standard, Part-IS stems directly from European regulation and is mandatory for applicable aviation organizations, including approved production organizations (POAs). In addition, compliance is overseen not by an independent certification body but by the national civil aviation authority—in Spain, this responsibility falls to AESA.
“The integration of Part-IS is a natural step in our security and certification strategy. As the aviation industry becomes increasingly digital and interconnected, information security is no longer solely an IT concern—it is a fundamental enabler of aviation safety. This approval demonstrates Embention’s ability to adapt to an increasingly demanding regulatory environment while continuing to deliver technologies that meet the highest standards of safety and reliability.”
With this approval, Embention ensures that its POA remains fully valid and compliant with the latest European regulatory requirements, reinforcing the confidence of customers, partners, and aviation authorities in the company’s ability to develop and manufacture safety-critical technologies for unmanned aviation and advanced air mobility.
