ALADIN succession: Quantum Systems concludes framework agreement with BAIINBw

Twister UAS for the German Federal Armed Forces

There have been rumors for some time; now it is official. Quantum Systems has won the German Armed Forces' tender for the successor to the reconnaissance drone ALADIN. The contract with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) specifies the delivery of 147 Twister systems, including associated services. Additionally, the framework agreement includes an option for up to 600 more Twister drones, as confirmed by the company from Gilching.

In public perception, Quantum Systems is primarily known for providing Ukraine with its own Vector reconnaissance drones. But of course, the team led by co-CEOs Florian Seibel and Sven Kruck does not „only“ focus on the Ukraine business. The German Armed Forces and other NATO troops are also in the company’s focus, which has been valued at 3 billion euros since the end of November 2025. As first reported by Handelsblatt, Quantum Systems is involved in the „Uranos KI“ Bundeswehr project together with Airbus and Helsing, which aims to monitor NATO’s eastern flank. In March 2025, the company also acquired AirRobot, manufacturer of the AR100-H multirotor drone used by the German Armed Forces under the name MIKADO (Mikro-Aufklärungsdrohne im Ortsbereich // micro reconnaissance drone for local area).

The framework agreement now made with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the delivery of Twister drones has a total value of approximately 85 million euros, including service provisions. These will replace the currently used ALADIN systems (Abbildende Luftgestützte Aufklärungsdrohne im Nächstbereich // Image-based Airborne Reconnaissance Drone in the Near Range), which are manufactured by EMT, a company belonging to the Rheinmetall Group.
