Reducing regulatory obstacles for UAS operations
Time-compressed and focused on the essentials. That is how to describe what visitors to the next EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM can expect. The most important conference for uncrewed aviation in Europe will now last only a full day, with an emphasis on regulatory hurdles for large-scale commercial UAS operations, sharpening the thematic focus once again. The motto: Think big – Create the future of drones in Europe.

What are the regulatory barriers to the comprehensive professional use of uncrewed aerial systems? How can 10,000 or even 100,000 commercial UAS operations per day in Europe become a reality? These questions will dominate the next EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM, which will take place on 24 March 2026, as part of XPONENTIAL Europe (24-26 March 2026) in Düsseldorf. The event will once again be organized by UAV DACH – Association for Unmanned Aviation, and the conference will focus strongly on legal frameworks and bureaucratic challenges, addressing key future issues for the UAS industry. These include the structural conditions necessary for the equal integration of uncrewed aerial systems into the general airspace, or what prerequisites must be met to make electronic visibility mandatory for all traffic participants in the lower airspace. It is somewhat in the DNA of the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM that the perspectives of regulators, drone manufacturers, and operators will meet here and seek solutions through sometimes controversial, but always consensus-oriented, exchanges. Solutions that are both practical and acceptable to all parties involved. It will be interesting to see what impulses and solutions will emerge from the EUROPEAN DRONE FORUM 2026.
