The battery system is a critical factor when it comes to range, operating time, and ultimately the operational benefit of a platform. Accordingly, it is important to select the optimal cells from the variety available on the market and, if necessary, combine them. No wonder that the process from the specifications to the validated battery pack can be lengthy. EFT Mobility and About:Energy want to demonstrate together how the whole process can be accelerated through digital development methods.

Since the beginning of 2025, EFT Mobility, part of the Quantum-Systems group, has been successfully developing battery systems for demanding drone applications. Like many other development firms, it faces the complex and especially time-consuming challenge of advancing battery technology based on manufacturer datasheets and extensive lab tests—continually reaching new performance peaks.
With the specialized simulation software from About:Energy, tailored specifically to the needs of the drone economy, the EFT Mobility team aims to compare battery cells more quickly, accurately, and across a broader range. This could be a crucial advantage, especially when capacity, weight, and thermal stability need to be precisely balanced to find the optimal solution for each application.
Performance reserves
Many UxS operators are not even aware of the large performance reserves that can be unlocked with perfectly matched battery cells. In addition, accelerated selection processes can significantly reduce development costs. According to EFT Mobility, the pre-selection of suitable cells can be shortened by as much as six months. The development time for the battery packs themselves is reduced by another three months thanks to scalable simulations.
