INTERMODELLBAU 2026 attracts technology fans to Dortmund

INTERMODELLBAU is the world’s largest trade fair for model making and model sports. The exhibition, which will take place from 16 to 19 April 2026 in the Westfalenhallen, will focus on remote-controlled ships, cars and aeroplanes – a field of technology that has more to do with commercial UxS applications than it might seem at first glance. For many families, the trade fair has always been their first point of contact with functional model making. And thus also the initial spark for many careers in technical professions.
Many professions within the UxS industry have their origins in model making. And that is precisely why INTERMODELLBAU, which primarily appeals to families and young visitors, is a breeding ground for the drone economy. Anyone who can fly a model aeroplane is predestined to be a drone pilot. Anyone who has mastered electronics, sensor technology and batteries in model making will quickly come to terms with the complex technology of an unmanned system. And for those who have learned how to work with, glue and paint different materials through model making, the construction and maintenance of prototypes and one-off pieces is a welcome change.
With its extensive programme, INTERMODELLBAU creates the basis for precisely this young talent that the UxS industry is desperately seeking. Dortmund offers spectacular action shows, exciting specialist lectures and impressive live demonstrations. Tens of thousands of detailed models from all areas of model making provide amazement, inspiration and plenty of topics for conversation. International exhibitors, experienced professionals and creative newcomers make the trade fair a lively platform for exchange, trends and innovations. INTERMODELLBAU 2026 promises unforgettable impressions and plenty of excitement.
