Benteler acquires DB subsidiary ioki
A suitable public transport offering can be a crucial building block for the transition to ecologically sustainable mobility. At the same time, expanding public transportation poses significant financial and organizational challenges for municipalities. With the acquisition of Deutsche Bahn's subsidiary ioki, Benteler Mobility aims to create an easily implementable solution in this area, relying, among other things, on self-driving shuttle buses of the type Holon urban.

A comprehensive mobility offering from a single source. Benteler Mobility has taken a significant step toward this goal with the agreed acquisition of ioki. The company, which specializes in operating and financing autonomous vehicle fleets, has reached an agreement with the Deutsche Bahn Group to purchase the successful DB subsidiary. Combined with Holon‘s autonomous shuttles, an all-encompassing mobility solution is expected to emerge, creating new options for passenger transport in both on-demand and regular service. While Benteler expands its own service portfolio, municipalities and transportation companies are expected to benefit from significant cost savings and more straightforward implementation of autonomous mobility offerings. „The acquisition brings together Holon’s manufacturing expertise and Benteler Mobility’s operational capabilities with the digital platform solutions by ioki – hardware, services, and software all in one place,” said Ralf Göttel, CEO of the Benteler Group. „This integrated approach is unique in our industry. It radically simplifies the deployment and operation of autonomous vehicles for customers.”
